The Lord's Prayer is THE Christian prayer. It appears everywhere in the church's life: in its liturgy and sacraments, in public and private prayer. Though we memorize the prayer as if it were a formula, we should not repeat it mechanically. Its purpose is to uplift, revive, and stimulate our spiritual life.
